What Causes Vaginal Spotting In An Elderly Person?

Hi I m a 53 year old female. My last menstrual cycle was the 3rd week of November. Did not have one December or January. For almost four weeks now been spotting on and off with some days a lil heavier. I have no energy and tired. Could this possibly be the start of menopause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thank You for the query at HealthcareMagic

Vaginal spotting and menstrual irregularities are common around the time of menopause. But it is very important to look for any pathology causing your symptoms like abnormal thickening of endometrial lining (Inner lining of uterus), vaginal/cervical problems etc.

Pelvic examination and further imaging studies and blood test are warranted at this point.
Please follow up with a Gynecologist to get the necessary evaluation done.

Hope I was able to answer your question
Please address any more concerns
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
