What Causes Vaginal Itching While On Oxybutynin?

I am currently taking oxybutynin ER 10 mg, I am 70 yrs old..female, the last couple weeks I am experiencing extreme itching in the vaginal area, and burning when urinating, which I am sure is from the itching, I am thinking maybe it is the bladder medication Oxybutynin that might be causing it, Is that a side effect. I take several meds Lisenapril, Metformin, famitidine, zetia, rosuvastatin, and victoza, I would appreciate if you could tell me if any of these drugs could be causing this itching and burning, and/or what can I do to stop it.

Hello,

Oxybutinin is not causing itching on your vaginal area. That will help with overactive bladder (frequent urination).

As I was reviewing your medications, I noted you are taking oral hypoglycemiant like Metformin, and victoza for diabetes.

Actually, diabetic patients do frequently suffer of urogenital problems like vaginal itching in your case.

Should rule out candida thrush as it is very common among diabetic patients. Should increase water intake. Take cranberry supplement to stabilize urine pH.

Discuss this further with your caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
