What Causes Vaginal Bleeding With Pregnancy Symptoms?

Hello, I am 28 years old with 1 child. I have been trying to conceive for another child for almost 2 years now. I started to get really tired all the time falling asleep at work and eating a lot. My breasts did not have that tingly feeling but only when I brush them from the top do I feel some soreness. I also went to the bathroom more times than usual and my husband was craving for food he usually doesn't eat all the time. He craved for things with our first child where as I didn't so it got me to thinking I could be pregnant. I then took a test 2 days prior to my expected period and got a faint positive. I still wasn't sure to really believe it or not that I could be pregnant because after all these months of trying to conceive I never got a positive hpt before. So I waited 2 more days and took another test on the day of my expected period. This was a digital test and it came out positive. I for sure then felt that I was pregnant. Well, 5 days after my expected period, it was a Tuesday, I started to bleed lightly (not like my regular period) and had minor lower abdominal cramps. I was worried of miscarrying so I took another digital test and got a positive. I then called into my clinic and talked to a nurse. She said it may be possible that I am miscarrying and there's nothing I can do to stop that but she said to just watch my bleeding until Thursday, which was when I had my appointment to go take the clinic's urine test. Wednesday, I was still bleeding lightly and everytime I went to the bathroom I looked for clots. I noticed that I had specks of blood clots and then a quarter sized clot before noon. I also had some small bloody mucous. Same thing with Thursday prior to my appointment. I had another quarter sized blood clot come out with tiny mucous and some specks of blood. I then went in to my clinic to take a urine test and to my surprise it came out negative. I was so puzzled and after talking to the nurse she said it could be that I got a false positive test and that my body was just flushing out later than usual past my expected period. I still couldn't believe it and am convinced that I may still be pregnant. She then told me that I could get a blood test done and see if I still have any HCG hormones. I couldn't get a blood test in on Friday so I have it set up for this coming Monday. Friday, I took another hpt (same digital one I used the second and day of first bleeding) and it came out negative. I was worried. Now that really got me thinking that I did in fact get a false positive or really was pregnant but then miscarried. I have a couple of sisters who actually bled while being pregnant and told me that if I did in fact miscarry, it would seem as if I was actually in labor and my cramps would be unbearable. I don't know what to think and have no idea if I could still be pregnant or not but I won't now for sure until I take that blood test and take to my actual doctor. Help please...I need some answers!

Hello,
I have gone through your elaborate description and understood your concern. Firstly, pregnancy test continues to read positive for sometime after an abortion or delivery since the pregnancy hormone takes time to dwindle. In your case, the earlier tests are likely to have been false positive. HPTs read well only 3-7 days after the missed period when performed with a fresh early morning sample. You can come to a conclusion with the serum beta-hCG titre estimation. A trans-vaginal sonogram also helps to know the status of the pelvic organs. You are more likely to have experienced a delayed period. Do not worry, you stand very good chance of conceiving since you are quite young. Please take the help of a specialist for further management. Hope this helps.
