What Causes Vaginal Bleeding While On Ginet?

Hi, I have a question regarding the contraceptive pill. I am taking Ginet and have had no problems with it for the past 2 years. However, for the last few months I have been getting breakthrough bleeding 2 weeks into the hormone pills.. why is this happening and is this affecting the effectiveness of the pill? I should also mention that I have IBS, I assume this doesn t have an effect on the pill? Thanks

Hi, I think breakthrough bleeding is a very common side effect. You can take some medicines like tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. This will not affect the effectiveness of the pill. But better to get yourself evaluated by a gynecologist. to rule out any other cause of bleeding. Get a pelvic examination done to rule out any cervical pathology or infections. Hope it helps.
