What Causes Vaginal Bleeding And Abdominal Pain On The Right Side?
hello, i am a female 63 yrs old. I stopped having periods 8 years ago with no bleeding since. Monday i experienced light vaginal bleeding. bright red-some small clots. no pain whatsoever, and it lasted for about 6 hours and stopped. now I am experiencing some light dull pain on my right side and passed a little more bright red blood. it is vaginal. i might also add i was sterilized in 1988. i hate to rush to an emergency room if this is common. also i experience nausea
I would recommend that you to get to see your gynaecologist as soon as you can. While there is no urgency to run to the emergency room if the bleeding is light, post-menopausal vaginal bleeding should always be investigated. Unfortunately, one of the major things that we need to rule out is cancer of the lining of the uterus. Other possibilities are polyps, or other abnormalities in the lining of the uterus.
A gynaecologist will be able to have a look at your cervix and inside your uterus and possibly take some samples for biopsy. They might perform an ultrasound as well to have a have a clearer look at what's going on.
Hope this helps, and all the best to you.
Regards, Dr. Teh
