Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im pretty sure i have an std but dont know what type. I started noticing it about six days after having unprotected vaginal intercourse. I want to get tested but the clinc isnt open for a couple days. I have blisters on parts of the vagina both inside and out and pain while urinating. I was hopeing to use something like hydrocortizone cream to help releive some of the discomft, but dont know if that would be a bad idea.
Blisters on vagina may have few causes. The common one is viral infection. Herpes can cause painful blisters. Similarly warts may cause blisters. There are few other less likely possibilities like syphilis (painless), cancroid etc.
The application of steroids cream is not a good idea. As it's likely to be viral, which may be worsened by steroids, so better to avoid. If you cannot find a way to go to the STd clinic, you may go to the ER for early treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
