General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your concern is very right. Causes of urinary leak are so many, these include damage to the nerves or problems with the urinary bladder or it's valve that holds urine. In older age, overflow incontinence is not very uncommon. However, whatever is the cause it may be, we need to look into it, as this is really embarrassing. We generally send such patients to a urologist, they would assess. Probably a urodynamic study would help you, that would probably tell us where the problem is. Then there are options for treatment, like muscle exercise, certain drugs or even surgery, depending on the cause. So the best thing would be to see a urologist.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
