What Causes Urinary Incontinence After Laparoscopic Prostatectomy?

I m a 57 y.o. male who had a robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy one week ago today. Surgery went well. Although I started the kegel exercises a few weeks prior to surgery, I ve already been experiencing leakage. The catheter will be removed tomorrow and I need to take some type of incontinence protection with me to the appt. Pad, liner, or undergarment? If you re able to recommend specific brands as well, that would be great. Any guidance is much appreciated. Thks!

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I suggest you to do regular pelvic floor exercise...
As you have asked for incontinence protection management I suggest you few things choose which is suitable for you...
1.Drip collector it is for minimal leak
2.Incontinence pad it is used for mild to moderate leak
3. Absorbent undergarment it is used for high amount leak
If still you have problem after using any above consult a urologist for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
