After sleeping on my belly I usually have some discomfort but today I woke up with the worst pain ever in my upper belly, it felt like my insides were being ripped up or a balloon was being blown up inside me. I can t move or it hurts worse, I ve been laying in a fetal position all morning, I don t want to go to the hospital!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Are you male or female? Are you alcoholic? How old are you? Upper belly pain may be due to gastritis or peptic ulcer disease or pancreatitis or gastric outlet obstruction etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Get it done ultrasound abdomen and upper GI endoscopy.

Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
