Hi,
Noted your history about having
swollen ankle with pain, needing crutch to support while walking.
The commonest causes I can think about are as follows:
Arthritis of the ankle joint with synovial thickening.
Twisting injury unnoticed when it occurred.
Any other specific cause like
tuberculosis and so on.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination.
MRI of the joint.
FNAC of swollen
synovial membrane.
Relevant tests of blood like RA that is
Rheumatoid Factor and as advised.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus gives a plan for proper management.
Till then give complete rest to the ankle.
Take an anti-inflammatory medications with painkiller properties.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
