What Causes Umbilicus Sensitivity With A Lump, Swelling And Redness?

I am very young but woke up two days ago and seemed to have an extremely sensitive belly button, I have had my appendix removed through it so this worries me. It is swollen and red and appears to have some sort of bump inside, I did have a piercing in it at one point but that is not where it is swollen or tender. I have taken that piercing out just in case but it is causing a strange amount of pain for just a bellybutton. Could this be related to the surgery i had about 5 years ago? if not what could this possibly be?

the symptoms you describe sound like an infection of the umbilicus. it is less likely to be due to the surgery you had 5 years back.
you need to visit your doctor and get a examination to find out the cause of the swelling so antibiotics can be prescribed if required
