What Causes Tugging Sensation And Pain In Urethra While Being On Catheter?

I had my son just over a little year ago. It was a traumatic birth, ended up with a forceps delivery, needed a catheter bag afterwards. I think some damage was caused when puttin the catheter in/out. Shortly after the birth I had a pulling painful tugging sensation in my urethral area. Every now and then I bleed from my urethral area, it s a lot, and can be really painful, some blood clots too. It usually happens after exercise, or sex, I m sure there s a cut that was caused by the catheter. How do I heal it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I feel you have trauma/ injury to urethra due to friction of catheter or due to undue pressure while getting difficult labor.

You should see a Urosurgeon. He would assess the type &extent of injury to urethra followed by cause specific management.(catheterisation with medicines/surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
