What Causes Tremors In The Stomach And Dry Mouth After Taking Flagyl?

After taking an antibiotic (Flagil?), I began to have the following symptoms: tremors in the stomach area, dry mouth, no appetite. Even after discontinuing antibiotic use, these symptoms come and go only less severe now than they were 2 months ago when I began taking the antibiotic. So far I ve lost about 20 lbs. My PCP and GI specialist don t seem to have the answer. I also am being treated for rheumatoid arthritis. What are your thoughts? Mary

Hi,

The side-effects you mentioned are because of Flagyl. However, they are temporary and disappears after discontinuation of it.

So, if symptoms are still there with the loss of body weight and decreased appetite then the proper investigation is required.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is usually associated with swelling and painful distal joints with malaise, fatigue, dryness of mouth, anaemia etc.

So the symptoms can also be justified by RA also. Please consult a rheumatologist for proper management.
