I was recently attacked and punched in my eye, aside from a bit of subconjunctival haemorrhage in my eye and a black eye I have noticed i can taste blood constantly in my mouth but yet when i spit theres very little traces of blood, none of my teeth feel loose and my gums all look fine. what could cause this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
The most probable reason to me looks to be a fracture of the maxilla on the same side tricking blood coming into mouth .
Another is the duct from the eye draining blood into the nose and then into the mouth.
You need to undergo X-ray or CT scan of the face to see the chance of fracture.
