What Causes Tonsils To Turn Greyish-black While Having Strep Throat?

My daughter was diagnosed Friday evening with strep throat. At the time, her tonsils were swollen and red with spots (as expected). But today, she is not feeling better after a few doses of antibiotic. but the question is, now here tonsils are still swollen to the same size, but they are a greyish-black in color, with very little pink. Should I be concerned?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A change in color of tonsils from red to gray in color indicate that the erythema has disappeared.
Erythema occurs in acute inflammation.
As the inflammation reduces, the redness diminishes and color changes from red to gray in color.
You can continue with the antibiotic and wait for the resolution of the swelling.

Thanks and take care
