Just had my gallbladder out 9 weeks ago. Should feel better. But I am tired all the time. No eating much. Execising. But gain 12 lbs in that time frame. I do take thyroid melds. Wondering if it is not working? Or could it be something else. 48 years old women. Pam
It is very much normal to feel tired after any major surgery. Therefore, our main focus should be on rest and recovery process for some time. Generally, heavy physical activity including strenuous body exercises may be avoided up to 6-10 weeks.
However, in your case, if everything is fine, then you should re-evaluate your dose of thyroid medicines, as low thyroid levels can cause all these symptoms, you are having which may be tiredness, loss of appetite, gain in weight etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It's normal to experience fatigue after gallbladder removal surgery, as your body adjusts to functioning without a gallbladder. Additionally, changes in diet, medications, and hormone levels can also contribute to feelings of exhaustion. If you have concerns about your thyroid medication, it's best to consult with your doctor to determine if your dosage needs to be adjusted. They may also consider other potential causes of fatigue, such as anemia or other underlying health conditions, and perform any necessary tests or examinations.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
