Hi,

The symptoms your husband is experiencing, such as ringing in the ears (tinnitus), headache, lightheadedness, and shortness of breath, can sometimes occur after a CT scan with contrast. These symptoms may be related to a reaction to the contrast material used in the scan.

It is important to contact your doctor or seek medical attention right away if your husband is experiencing these symptoms. In some cases, an allergic reaction to the contrast material can occur, which can be serious and require prompt treatment.

Your doctor may recommend certain medications or treatments to help alleviate your husband's symptoms. In addition, your doctor may want to monitor your husband for any potential complications or adverse reactions to the contrast material.

It is important to keep your doctor informed about any symptoms your husband experiences after the CT scan, as this information can help guide appropriate treatment and management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician Dr. Priyanka's  Response
Hi,

Yes, you should be concerned and seek medical attention immediately. The symptoms your husband is experiencing after a CT scan with contrast could be signs of an allergic reaction or a serious side effect. Ringing in the ears (tinnitus), headache, lightheadedness, and shortness of breath are all possible side effects of the contrast material used in CT scans.

These symptoms may indicate a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis, which requires immediate medical attention. You should take your husband to the emergency room or contact his healthcare provider right away for further evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
