What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Leg Of A Diabetic Patient?
recently diabetically diagnosed (type 2) and successfully lowered my blood sugar to an average daily (morning reading of about 160. I have been experiencing a tingling in the back side of my left leg from my pelvis to my foot. Kinda tickles and occasionally seems to slightly weaken my leg. When I rub my achilles tendon, it seems to cause a tingling reaction on my foot. Is this related to diabetes, or is it something a chiropractor might address? Any thoughts? thank you sir or maam
It is quite possibly related to your diabetes. It has been shown that even before a person becomes a full blown diabetic, there can be damage occurring to the nerves.
This is called neuropathy. If it is definitely related to diabetes, it can sometimes be improved with tight control. There are also medications that can help as well.
There are other causes of neuropathy such as : (1)trauma to the nerves eg arthritis to the back can affect the nerves coming out of the spine, going to the legs (2)liver or kidney disease (3)side effect of medication (4)thyroid disease (5)abnormal vitamin b6 (6)low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
I hope this helps
