What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Feet, Face And Lips?

I have had a burning, sore neck radiating first down right arm and now left arm for four months. In the last month I have had tingling in both feet and now in my lips and face. I have had an MRI which showed 3 bulging discs and four bone spurs. The orthopedic surgeon my primary care referred me to said there is nothing to operate on and wants me to see a neurologist. I am waiting for several weeks/months for the referral and appointment to go through. I am nervous now my tongue is tingling. Can I safely wait for weeks/months to be seen again?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The abnormal sensations are occurring because the nerves are affected by the bulging discs or they may be compressed. There are other causes of neuropathy (abnormal function of the nerves) that would need to be ruled out by blood tests.

There are medications that can help relieve your symptoms, one of these can be prescribed by your doctor. Example amitriptyline, tegretol, lyrica, gabapentin etcetera.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
