What Causes Tingling Sensation In Body After A Bladder Mesh Surgery?

At night my body goes numb, with tingling and heaviness from the just below my breasts to my toes. A month agao it started at my hips and went to my toes. Now it is expanding. It takes about 5 minutes to talk to my bodybefore I am able to move. I am able to walk- and function throughout the say, but it never goes away completely. I believe it is related somehow to the bladder meshes in my body. I say this because I NEVER had any issues like this prior to a partial hysterectomy and bladder mesh/sling surgery 41/2 years ago. The bladder surgery did not work, so a second mesh was put in three years ago. My symptoms immediately magnified. They mesh worked (80 percent) for about 3 months, but it is still an issue as well. However, it takes a backseat to everything else. The left side of my body is effected more than my right. There is dull, achy pain in the small of my back, and sometime back of my neck. Otherwise, I am not in pain . As the day goes on, the heaviness increases. When I am able to rest for 15 minutes or so, it improves. It effects every aspect of my life and no one has been able to help or gives me any answers so far. I am beyond frustrated.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, you are possibly having hypersensitivity to minor pain sensation through some sort of spinal cord disorder, which is a very rare event in medical sciences, usually happens after major trauma , but can occur after spinal anesthesia or surgery well.

In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination of the neurology and other systems, I do recommend a systemic evaluation of the cause as:
- Complete hemogram
- Kidney and liver function tests
- serum electrolytes
- MRI spine
- Ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis
- Electromyography and nerve conduction study
- Pain score index scaling by experts

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
