What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Shoulders?

Hello, for some time my rt. shoulder starts to tingle like it s going numb if turn my head to my right and hold it there. I saw a neurologist and had scans and nerve tests followed by a steroid injection to my C-4 vertebrae. It didn t work and now ( a year later ) my shoulder is losing strength. Can you give an idea of what could be causing this onset of weakness? Thank you, Randy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This is probably cervical spondylosis that is narrowing of the space between the neck vertebra causing pressure on the nerve that exit from there.

Generally, we need an MRI to confirm it. Treatment is physiotherapy and correction of posture. Steroids injection are used if these don't work. Rarely operation may be needed.

You need to see your neurosurgeon or neurologist for proper assessment and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
