What Causes Tightness In Jawline After Using Dipping Tobacco?

I have been dipping tobacco for 6-7 years... Two days ago I noticed a very slight discomfort and tightness (almost like a pulled muscle) on the inside of my left jawline, near the lymphnode. Is this something to worry about or am I over reacting? Thank you

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, tightness of the jaw line after dipping tobacco can be due to slight inflammation and irritation of the mucosa in that area..

It can also be due to inflammation and swelling of lymph node..

As you are a chronic tobacco dipper there is also a possibility that there is formation of fibrous bands under the mucous membranes leading to Oral Submucous Fibrosis..
It can gradually restrict mouth opening so needs to be taken care of..

So my sincere advise is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
You should first of all stop dipping tobacco as it has deleterious side effects that can cause oral cancer..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
