What Causes Tightness In Chest After Drinking Alcohol?

last night i had a few drink while out with some friends and my chest started to feel really tight, i felt throbbing around where my heart is and it got very difficult to breathe. so i sobered up and it got mostly better so i thought it was just a weird fluke and tried to have another drink and then it started up again. so i stopped drinking and made the connection. but then i was at work today and it happened again. i am only 20 years old, i often get respiratory infections but i have not had problems with my heart before... what could this be?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are mostly having GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
It is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause the symptoms of chest pain, chest tightness, pressure etc. Alcohol cause more laxity of the sphincter.
So alcohol makes your symptoms worse.
So quit alcohol as soon as possible.
Avoid stress and tension. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
Take proton pump inhibitors and prokinetic drugs.
You will mostly improve with all these.
No need to worry for heart diseases because you are too young (20 years) for this.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
