What Causes Tight Sensation In The Groin Area On The Left Side?

I had tightness in the left groin hip area that had all but disappeared when I stopped practicing yoga. Today I began yoga again and found that if I turn my left toes toward the left, I get a shooting pain in my left groun area. I am icing the area, but it still hurts. I do not want to stop practicing, as I have done it daily with no problems for over four years.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The tight sensation in groin can be from

- acute ligament stretch or muscle spasm
- a hernia in the groin or femoral region
- nerve compression
- others

* Primary evaluation with your consultant surgeon and ultrasound with or without CT scan would be best steps to approach further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
