What Causes Tight Chest With Shortness Of Breath And Tingling Hands And Face?

Hi I have this problem with my breathing I do have asthma but I find I get a tightness in my diaphragm and shortness of breath without even excerting myself just by bending over. I also get tingling sensation in my hands face and across my chest. It passes in time but it can come in waves. I find it gets worse in stressful situations. I m 27 I don t smoke, I eat generally healthy and walk everywhere. I m not sure whether it s a serious thing worth getting checked out or whether it s just general stress and anxiety. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks Lynda

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should get checked first . It complication of asthma as well as anxiety. You should firstly check lungs function doing a spyrometry.

Then if it is normal you may need to do an ECG and thyroid hormone levels. Hyperthyroidism can also cause increased heartbeat and anxiety.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
