What Causes Throat Pain?

The doctor diagnosis me with strep throat. My throat hurts really bad and I seem to cough when mucous builds in the back of my throat which usually consist of clear or light yellow phlegm. The last time I cough the mucous was darker with a streak of blood. Could this be due to the strain on my throat when I get the urge to cough. I am currently taking an antibiotic for my illness .

hello, thanks for your query, throat pain could be due to descending infection from sinusitis or ascending infection from acidity or sputum of your cough. straining during cough itself causes throat pain some times. with your antibiotic course, do salt water gargling. hope I have answered your query. all the best. take care.
