What Causes Throat Pain On Either Side Of The Esophagus?
Ok, so I m 30 years old hate to admit it but I smoke cig about a pack every two days which doesn t help my situation, but aside from that I have this recurring symptom of my throat hurting its not red but hurts on either side down by my esophagus area feels swollen, I ve had strep test done came back negative. I don t have my tonsils either been on antibiotics and it keeps coming back I ll go one day where I m fine and by night time its hurting again and hurts for a couple of days with some coughing too so any idea what could be causing this to happen?
first of all, you forgot to mention how long have you been smoking. and we all knew that smoking can cause irritation of the oral mucosa, it can dry your throat and causes persistent sore throat, oral and esophageal cancer. since coughing is a normal physiologic action of the throat to expel out allergens/ irritant. the cigarette itself contains thousands of chemicals that when heated it causes irritation of the airways and causes persistent coughing.
