What Causes Thighs Pain While Climbing Stairs Long After Having Slipped Disc?

I felt shooting pain toward the tight area when walking up stairs. Could not find the pain spot. Press all over my tights, there is no pain. When walking down stairs, there is no pain. Could it be due to slip disc. I was hospitalised for slip disc 25 years ago but the pain was on the leg not tight area.
