What Causes The Feeling Of Lump At The Back Of Throat?
Hello. I currently am suffering from the sensation of having something stuck in the area in which my nose and throat connect. Back of throat, nose, almost feeling like the roof of my mouth. I have pulled up large mucus balls before, but this one is not coming up! I know i can take mucinex to try breaking it down, how else can i get it out?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of feeling of lump at the back of throat which is due to infection of pharynx behind the uvula and pointing towards a condition known as granular pharyngitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to to take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as it will relieve pain and swelling. Do warm saline gargles and betadine gargles alternately 2-3 times a day. Suck on sugar free candy and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid oily and fried food. You should consult ENT specialist once for proper diagnosis and to rule out other causes. Doctor will examine physically or may order swab test or blood test to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics penicillin or amoxicillin at least for a week mucolytic agent like ambroxol or decongestants .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
