What Causes Terrible Itching Inside Ears And Back Of Throat?

I ve had a terrible itching inside my ears for years that gets worse when I eat certain foods.I try hard to avoid these foods because they also cause other symptoms but I can t seem to stop it even after giving up many foods.My mom has this too so it must run in the family.The itching feels like it s deep inside my head and go down into my neck and the back of my throat.I also get drainage most of the time when it happens.The only thing that helps is an antihistamine but I d really like to find a way to stop it from happening before it starts.

I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get allergic tests like Patch test, RAST test, food challenge test etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

The tests will help in ruling out the exact cause of the allergen and once you know the cause of the allergic reaction you can avoid exposure to it to prevent allergy attack..
Certain foods needs to be eliminated from the diet to prevent the symptoms..

He can be advised to take anti allergics like benadryl along with steroid nasal sprays to relieve the symptoms..
He can also be instilled an Immunotherapy that will help in reducing the severity and frequency of allergic attack..
Once the allergen is ruled out avoiding exposure to it can prevent the allergy symptoms..
