What Causes Swollen Veins In My Left Testicle?

I have seen a doctor already be looking for a second opinion because I couldn t get a straight answer. Last Thursday I woke up with horrible pain in my left testicle. Just out of the blue. I was completely fine the night before. It wasn t torsion. I was sent for an ultrasound. It came back that my veins were all swollen on the left side only. I m now on antibiotics for 10 days. I m just wondering what some of the major causes of this are?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the description of your problem and ultrasound findings, it appears that you could be having 'varicocele'.
Varicocele is a vein abnormality in the scrotum, which is caused due to enlargement of pampiniform plexus of veins.
A varicocele can result in decreased sperm production and quality, which in some cases can lead to infertility.
Kindly take the antibiotics prescribed.
Following this, you would require a surgical correction to the problem. Kindly consult Surgeon with the report for appropriate evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
