What Causes Swollen Vein On Inner Elbow Of Left Hand?

Swollen basilic vein at inner elbow of the left hand. This happened 6 months back when i lifted heavy weight in a gym and noticed pain in my left elbow. The basilic vein including the forearm vein became enlarged and could be easily seen from my skin. Meanwhile i recently consulted an orthopaedician and found three small linear tears in insertion of biceps at ulna through Ultrasonography. Doctor prescribed me rest and physio for atleast 6 weeks. And also said swelling in my vein may be because of thrombosis and there is nothing to worry because it's mild. But i am tensed because i see no recovery in my elbow from the last 4 months. The skin where the basilic vein can be seen continues to be swollen. What should i do? Is there anything serious?

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest there is a thrombus in the venus system of the left upper limb - which is a critical condition.
2.The venous doppler study suggest the presence of the the thrombus - due to which there is dilatation and venous stasis was caused.
3.There is a tear in the ligaments / tendons where biceps insertion point.
4.In this case good rest is very much needed with thrombolytic drugs for the lysis of the thrombus.
5.And for the tear you need to give rest for the muscles and if required an operative procedure to fix the tear.

Good luck.
