What Causes Swollen Vaginal Area Post Intercourse?

I'm 21 years old. I just finished having sex with my boyfriend and I am just finishing my period. He's normal sized and we haven't had sex for about two weeks and I didn't notice any pain during but after when I was in the shower I noticed the area at the very back at the entrance of my vagina is a lot bigger than it was before, feels like it's sticking out, swollen maybe and painful to touch or sit, hurts to walk a little and it really hurts when I pee as well. I'm not sure what this could be because it's never happened before.

Hello,Welcome to the HCM,
It could be vaginal infection , my opinion would be get checked by a gynaecologist to rule out any tear or infection. Until that take good care as hygienic point of view.wash it daily with antiseptic water.
Hopefully my answer will be helpfull for you, regards,Dr.Maheshwari

Psychiatrist Dr. Sonia Malhotra's  Response
Dear patient,
This condition is normal to happen if it was your first intercourse, as it occurs due to rupture of the hymen and dilation of the vagina. It usually subsides in 3-4 days. Usual OTC pain killers are sufficient. In case it wasnt your first, you may have had a vaginal erosion due to rigourous intercourse or a tight vaginal orifice. It is advisable to visit a gynaec to ensure that the area hasnt got infected, and take antibiotics if needed. And for the next time, use a lubricant like a petroleum jelly or lignociane gel (if u have pain during intercourse too), to avoid damage to vaginal mucosa.
