Hello,

Thank you for the query and welcome to Healthcaremagic!

In order to help you out i will need some more information about your dad's condition like when was his hip surgery done? did he have the right foot swelling during the period when he was on bed post surgery?has the left hand movement improved or worsened and in how much time? Was a head CT done at the time of your doctor's visit for complaint of left hand movement? Is he on any blood thinner tablets?

Post surgery rest especially in old age can lead to clot in leg which circulate and cause stroke or TIA. Thus this possibility needs to be looked into.

If both examination by your clinician and Head CT were normal then its likely to be muscle spasm which will be improved with hand exercises and taking muscle relaxant tablets.

Hope this helped. Contact back for any further questions , Takecare!
