What Causes Swollen Neck, Sore Throat And Dry Mouth?

For the past 3 weeks periodically it hurts when I swallow. I haven t been sick nor have I had a sore throat. It comes and goes. Like if my mouth is dry when I swallow it hurts, or if I yell it hurts. I felt my neck and feels like its swollen. I m not sure if its my tonsils, throat, or thyroid.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Painful swallowing for 3 weeks is a cause of concern. The commonest causes are Epiglottitis, hyoid bone inflammation, any granular lesion and so on. I would advise you the following in such a situation. Consult an ENT Surgeon and request for Endoscopy as this will find the exact cause. Get a symptomatic treatment in the form of anti-inflammatory medicine with painkiller properties. Additional treatment in the form of antibiotic and anything else will be as per the Doctor's findings and experience.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
