Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have gone through your complain and it seems that the symptoms of swollen glands, sores in mouth, earache and headache seems to be most probably due to infection in throat and pain in ears is due to radiating pain from throat as ears and throat are connected via Eustachian tubes.

I would suggest you to consult an otolaryngologist and get evaluated for the exact cause of the symptoms. For pain and discomfort Ibuprofen or Calpol (if not allergic) will help to relieve pain and inflammation.

Home remedies which can have a cumulative effect on relieving your disease can be:

1. Doing warm saline gargles 2 to 3 times a day.

2. Avoid spicy food. Take soft diet.

3. Keep yourself well hydrated.

4. Hot milk with a pinch of turmeric boiled together has antiseptic effect and that can be taken at bedtime for 3 consecutive days.

5. Applying ice packs (ice wrapped in a cloth) on swollen glands can help in reducing the swelling caused by inflammation.

For mouth ulcers, gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine and also take Vitamin B complex supplements.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
