What Causes Swollen Feet, Ankles And Hands After Taking Metoprolol And Levothyroxine?

My feet, ankles & hands are swollen. I have RA & fibromyalgia to name a couple. All of my joints are extremely painful. Even the bottom are really tender. Recently add 2 new prescriptions Metoprolol for BP & Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism. Could either of those mess cause a flare up on my joints?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive acute flare of RA. Based on the history you seem to be suffering from exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis which usually occurs due to an over activity or trauma to the joint. Other triggers include stress, cold weather, a change in barometric pressure, an infection or weight gain. There is documented evidence of any such interactions between flare of RA and medications like metoprolol or levothyroxine

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
