What Causes Swollen Ankles While On Actos, Metformin And Lisinopril?

my feet and up to my ankles are swollen as if there is liquid inside on top of my feet to toes. I thought it may be due to my taking Actos 30 mg. I started taking actos around July 22, 2016. I also take glipizide 20mg twice daily and metformin 500mg. twice daily. I also take Lovistatin20mg at night, doxasosin8 mg bedtime. magnesium 400mg twice daily,metoprol 25mg twice daily and lisinopril 40mg before breakfast. Hi & Welcome.

After having gone through the history and the prescribed medications, tablet Actos seems to be responsible for the swollen ankles and feet.

Actos (Pioglitazone) is commonly prescribed as an add on therapy for the treatment of uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Peripheral edema (collection of fluids in the subcutaneous tissue) is one of the important side effects of Actos causing swollen ankles and the feet.
If the treatment with Actos continues, it may cause heart failure.

I advise you to consult your treating physician for the dose reduction or to discontinuance of Actos must be considered.
