What Causes Swollen And Red Gums?

My 8 mo. Old has a swollen tooth with red gums above it and a yellow bump. Ithink it is abcessed. She was in er3 days ago with a cough congestion and high fever. They didn't find the cause and said it could be viral. Myquestion is sis it safe to wait till morning to see a doctoror something that needs mess right away?
