What Causes Swollen Abdomen, Bloating And Back Pain After A Back Surgery?

Back surgery in2007, back pain ever since, in addition to terrible boating and swelling in the abdominal area. Have a problem with bowels. First stool is always like a hard piece of tar, then I can go have normal bowel movement. By the end of each day my abdomen is so swollen that I can hardly walk. I doubles me over. I am 91 years old, but was in beautiful shape until the surgery. The past couple of years I seem to have fallen apart. Have neuropathy in my legs. Other than that I have nothing wrong with me.

HI there.. sir... after an abdominal surgery.. its the aftereffect of anaesthesia either general or spinal, thats given to you that lingers on.The anaesthesia , is the reason the bowels take time to regain their tone, normal movement. Some of my patients experience constipation, bloated abdomen , abnormal bowel , hard stools post surgery.... So its normal phenomenon, most people recover in aweeks time. There is nothing to worry about that. Do take your neuropathy medications regularly, that will keep you active and agile.Good going.
