What Causes Swelling On The Cheeks And Jawline?

Hi. For the last 2 years my daughter has had some extreme swelling in her cheeks and around her law line. The swelling is very firm.
We've been to many doctors with no luck.
2 days ago we visited a new doctor, who thinks something is going on with her bones in her jaw.
He ordered an X-ray yesterday, but I'm curious what the different results could be, or what we could be dealing with if it's something to do with her jaw bone.

Hi..
Thanks for writing to us..

Well, swelling of cheeks and jawline since 2 years should be considered seriously as it can be due to some underlying pathology like Paget's Disease, Chronic Non-Suppurative Osteomyelitis etc..

So my suggestion to you is to consult an Oral Surgeon and get a thorough clinical examination done and along with it not only x ray but a CT Scan and a blood test should be done for diagnosis and treatment should be done accordingly..

Treatment can be done with medication and at times even surgical intervention may be required..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
