What Causes Swelling On Eyes And Pedal Edema After Taking Olmezest?

My mom is 59 yrs ols having single functioning kidney diagnosed few yrs bck.she was advised aldactone and olmezest for high bp.she took it for 2 yrs dn on routine test 2 mnth back her potassium came high.doctor advised him to stop both medicine and took potasium binding sachet which she took for 2 month after which poassium came normal.so she again started on olmezest 10 mg past 5 days but she is noticing swelling over eyes and pedal odema.what it can be due to and what we have to do now?

After having gone through the history given in your query, I am of the opinion that the swelling around the eyes and pedal edema could have occurred as a result of side effects of Olmezest.

Because of the harmful side effects, actually Olmezest is not a safer choice to reduce the high BP in patients with single functioning kidney.

Now since her serum potassium level is within the normal range, you must consult her treating physician for the use alternate but a safer drug like Calcium channel blocker or Alpha adrenergic blocker.
