Hi,
It is possible that the swelling and pain in the groin area, inner thighs, and testicles could be related to either
hernias or
prostatitis. Inguinal hernias are a common type of hernia that occurs when tissue bulges through a weak spot in the abdominal wall, often causing swelling and pain in the groin area. Prostatitis is an inflammation of the
prostate gland that can cause pain in the groin area, lower back, or
perineum, as well as urinary symptoms.
The fact that you had a bout of prostatitis and a UTI suggests that the symptoms may be related to the prostate. It is possible that the dropping sensation you felt could have been related to the development of an inguinal hernia, but it is also possible that the
radiologist was mistaken in their diagnosis. It is important to follow up with your
urologist and discuss your symptoms and concerns.
In addition to antibiotics, other treatments for prostatitis may include anti-inflammatory medications, muscle relaxants, and
physical therapy. If a hernia is suspected, your doctor may recommend imaging tests or refer you to a surgeon for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
