What Causes Swelling In The Vaginal Wall And Lower Abdominal Pain During Periods?

I m 38. 3 kids. Always have clockwork periods with bloating as my only symptom. Began period yesterday. Had unusual cramping and backache this morning. Have always used tampons with no pain ever. This evening I took one out with pain for the first time ever, tampon not dry. Put another in, no pain inserting. About six hours later I go to take it out and hurts worse. Looks and feels to me like my vagina is bulging. I stuck my finger all the way to my cervix to be sure there was not a tampon stuck. There is major swelling at the top of my vaginal wall where I am having the pain in my lower abdomen. What could be going on? Do I need to be examined asap?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a local inflammation.

We have to rule out possible causes like endometriosis also.

Consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

A detailed evaluation is required to find out the exact cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
