What Causes Swelling In The Lower Leg After Total Knee Replacement?

I am 3 weeks out from TKR. My scar is healing nicely. My lower leg has been swelling a bit and has like a sunburn on it. The scar below the knee is very red and I just shaved my legs and I nicked the end of the scar and out came a ton of greenish pink gook. My doctor is out till Monday. I have no fever or chills. Can I wait till my doctor is back in town on Monday?

Hello,

It is due to local edema or inflammation.

Consult a general surgeon and plan for a Doppler scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
