What Causes Swelling In The Lips?

Hello I have gotten a swollen lip twice in less than a month only on the upper lip benadryl eventually takes it away but I don't know what is causing my lip to do so does biting fingernails cause this ? I don't think it's anything I have eating the first time my lip was swollen I didn't eat anything I was also bit by a mosquito not sure if that's what caused it either

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling of the lip that is resolved by taking benadryl seems to be most probably due to Allergic reaction that can be due to any allergy to food or medication or a side effect of any skin cosmetic, bug bite reaction etc..

I would suggest you to consult an Allergist when next time you get the swelling and get an allergic test done..
It will help you in ruling out the finger exact cause of the reaction so that the allergen exposure can be prevented..

As far as biting the finger nail is concerned, it will not cause swelling of the lip until it is highly traumatic and the cause probably seems to be allergic reaction only..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks AND Regards..
