Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a hysterectomy in 1971. I am now 75 years old and for the last 25 years my feet, ankles, legs and knees have been horribly swollen to the point where wearing shoes is painful, Could there be a connection between the hysterectomy and the vagus nerve which is what I ve been told.
As per my surgical experience of more than 20 years in dealing hysterectomy patients, I do not agree with vagus nerve issue and swelling feet and ankles.
Current issue seems related to arthritis or other systemic problem which has to be sorted out via thorough clinical examination and supportive evaluation with blood tests, X-ray work up.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
