What Causes Swelling In Legs And Bowel Incontinence?

I cannot control my bowels. This, I believe, has caused my legs to swell. This started after I had my hysterectomy about 3 years ago. When I want to he doctor about a year ago, they said they could find nothing. Now it is worse. I have bowel incontinence 2 0r 3 days a week instead of 4 or 5 times a year. My legs remain swollen but get bigger after the diarrhea

Hello,

The swelling in legs with bowel incontinence may be related to various disorders as:
- Low protein levels
- Damage to certain nerves in lower spinal cord, lumbar plexus, splanchnic or pelvic nerves
- Congestion of pelvic vessels
- Alteration in renal function as raised creatinine
- Other electrolyte disturbances
- Gut flora problems
- Others

Kindly provide any of the work up reports if available with you for my further reference here.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
