Swelling on the left side of the abdomen with pain and nausea is commonly due to liver dysfunction or enlargement. You are suggested to take boiled food, avoid spicy oily junk food. Stay well hydrated and take adequate rest. Take food good for the liver and take liver tonics (Liv 52).
Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are gastrointestinal disorders, irritable bowel syndrome or disease causing discomfort and pain. More serious causes of abdominal swelling include intestinal blockage, fluid in the abdomen, or cancer. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all required imaging tests, investigations, tests done. Get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
