What Causes Swelling Around Neck And Hoarse Voice?

my wife is 47 years old, she reads the news on radio. of late, she is losing her voice which becomes a hoarse whisper at times. other times she's fine. also, there's a swelling around her neck in the supraclavicular region -- don't know if this is related. grateful if you could help. thank you.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.


You told me your wife is a radio news reader. So hoarseness of voice is an occupational hazard to her. This may be due to laryngitis, laryngeal nodules or any upper tract infections. Just make your wife relax her throat with lukewarm water after every session. Make sure she doesn't use her throat to high pitch sounding frequently. If the symptoms persist consult an ENT doctor he will do an indirect laryngoscopy to know the exact cause.
